The Chatham Board of Health has partnered with the Cape Cod Medical Reserve Corps to recruit and train volounteers for a public health emergency.
Cape Cod is making great strides in developing the process and infrastructure to prepare for and respond to disasters.~ But to ensure the most effective emergency response, we need a group of dedicated individuals that can be relied upon when disasters strike our community.~ The Cape Cod Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is that group.
MRC Volunteers will receive training appropriate to their job assignments.~ Volunteers will respond to disasters, help at community health fairs, assist at large public events, and participate in community disaster drills.
Because it will be activated mostly to deal with health and medical issues, the main focus of the MRC will be organizing those with experience in medical fields.~ Like any large organization, however, we will also need people with knowledge of transportation and logistics, bookkeeping, computers, communications, counseling, and mental health, as well as a variety of other areas.~ Regardless of your background, you have skills we need!
