Some positions require Lifeguard Training or equivalent, Standard First Aid, and Professional Rescuer BLS/CPR or Water Safety Instructor Certification. Most positions are available from June through the Labor Day holiday (9/3/17). Pay rates range from $11.00/hr up to $20.00/hr. Seasonal Harbor Patrol Boat EMT Crewmember

The Town of Chatham Harbormaster Division seeks qualified EMTs for the position(s) of Seasonal Harbor Patrol Boat Crewmember. This position works primarily Friday through Sunday from 8:00 am to 6 pm, holidays included, to assist in emergency water-related response throughout the Town’s harbors and waterways. In addition to emergency safety responsibilities, duties include enforcement of local waterways by-laws, State boating laws, and regulations and boat crew activities. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, strong interpersonal skills, current EMT certification, and demonstrated small-boat handling skills. Current or past public safety experience preferred. This is a seasonal position May through early September. Salary range is $15.00 - $18.00 per hour, depending on skill and experience.

Responsibilities include enforcement of local waterways by-laws, State boating laws, and regulations. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Strong interpersonal skills, CPR, AED and water safety certification, as well as demonstrated small-boat handling skills. Current or past public safety experience preferred. This is a seasonal position May through early September. Variable shifts including evenings and weekends. Salary range is $15.50 - $18.50 per hour, depending on skill and experience.

The Town of Chatham Harbormaster Division seeks qualified candidates for the position(s) of Seasonal Assistant Wharfing. Responsibilities include management and oversight of the Municipal Fish Pier and Town Landings, to include enforcement of local waterways by-laws, State boating laws, and fish pier and landing regulations. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, strong interpersonal skills, CPR, AED and water safety certification and demonstrated small-boat handing skills. Current or past public safety experience preferred. This is a seasonal position June through early September. Variable shifts including evenings and weekends. Salary range is $14.00 - $17.00 per hour, depending on skill and experience.

Secretary Department of Public Works

The Town of Chatham is seeking an experienced, well-qualified individual to provide secretarial support and customer service to the Department of Public Works, which includes Water, Sewer, Highway, Facilities and Transfer Station divisions. The position is responsible for verbal, written and electronic correspondence telephone and computer messaging, relaying information quickly and accurately, and maintaining paper and computer files and data bases, accounts payable and payroll support. This position is also responsible for maintaining supplies and tracking inventory for office. This position also provides secretary support for various committees and/or advisory committees. Applicant must have a high school diploma and at least two years of experience using Microsoft Office and other data base and spreadsheet applications. Strong interpersonal skills are also required to meet, greet, and direct the public, as well as assist with work orders and project coordination. This is a 35 hr/wk Grade 3 position in the CMEA collective bargaining group with an pay range of $19.35/hr. to $23.58/hr.

Town Treasurer/Tax Collector

Chatham seeks a qualified individual for the municipal Treasurer/Tax Collector position. The position is responsible for overseeing the town investments, cash management, R/E, P/E, and MVE billing preparation, all revenue collection activities, and managing all town debt services. The Treasurer/Collector department takes charge of all money belonging to the town with responsibility for all cash, disbursements, investments, and debt. The department issues and collects all real estate, personal property, motor vehicle excise, boat excise, water and sewer bills, and betterments, and manages such monies using approved banking and investment systems and procedures. The position requires a bachelor’s degree with a concentration on accounting or finance, and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in municipal government in the treasury and/or collector function. A municipal Treasurer and Collector certificate is desirable. This is a Grade 10 position in the Chatham Municipal Employees Association Union, with an FY18 pay range of $66,809.60 to $81,390.40 and is eligible for benefits and a pension.
