S.A.F.E. Grants Received

The Chatham Fire Rescue Department has been awarded Student Awareness of Fire Education (S.A.F.E.) and Senior S.A.F.E. grants from the Commonwealth's Department of Fire Services.

The S.A.F.E. program was created 27 years ago and since that time average annual child deaths have been reduced by 78%. Seven years ago, the S.A.F.E. program was expanded to offer funds to communities in support of senior fire prevention training. Seniors are the most vulnerable population at risk of fire related deaths. Senior S.A.F.E. is aimed at educating seniors on fire prevention, general home safety and how to be better prepared in the event of a fire.

Th grants will continue to support Captain Ryan Clarke and Firefighter/Paramedic Rachel McGrath with their fire safety education programs here in Town.

Monomoy Integrated Preschool

The Monomoy integrated Preschool Program strives to maximize the achievement of all students. Preschool children ages 3-4 who have been found eligible for special education services due to a disability learn alongside more typically developing students, called community friends, in an emotionally and physically safe environment. The community friends help to model age appropriate social, play, language and learning skills.

On Wednesday and Thursday, March 23 and 24, 2022 Monomoy Regional School District will hold Preschool Screenings for families who would like to enroll their children as community friends in the Integrated Preschool Program for the 2022-2023 school year. The screenings are by appointment only which may be made by calling 508-430-7216.

The Mainsheet

The name of our e-newsletter was selected from submissions by our community.
In nautical terms a mainsheet is the line connected to the boom which allows a sailor to control the speed of a boat. We think that is fitting for an e-newsletter that can be used to quickly send out important information to our community or at a more leisurely rate for less pressing matters. It reflects Chatham’s maritime history, is reminiscent of the front page of a newspaper, and it is a fun play on Main Street, where you go to be part of all that is happening in Town!
