Senator Markey Visits Fish Pier

Senator Ed Markey visited the Municipal Fish Pier on Wednesday for a tour conducted by the Cape Cod Fishermen's Alliance, including an opportunity to speak with members of the commercial fishing fleet.

As part of the visit several members of the Select Board had the opportunity to speak with the Senator about the Town's concerns with the downgrading of Coast Guard Station Chatham's response capabilities, staffing, and change of vessels to ones less suited to Chatham’s unique environment. The Senator agreed to help foster dialogue between the Town and the Coast Guard.

The Mainsheet

The name of our e-newsletter was selected from submissions by our community.
In nautical terms a mainsheet is the line connected to the boom which allows a sailor to control the speed of a boat. We think that is fitting for an e-newsletter that can be used to quickly send out important information to our community or at a more leisurely rate for less pressing matters. It reflects Chatham’s maritime history, is reminiscent of the front page of a newspaper, and it is a fun play on Main Street, where you go to be part of all that is happening in Town!
