Full-Time Year-Round Parks & Grounds Laborer

The Town of Chatham is currently accepting applications for the year-round full-time position of Grounds Laborer for the Parks & Grounds Division.  This position performs a wide variety of functions in support of multiple divisions of public works operations, primarily assigned responsibilities of maintaining appearance and access to public buildings and grounds, including cutting grass, planting, raking, seeding, pruning shrubs, bushes and trees, mulching, edging, sweeping waste removal. Summer duties include landscape construction and maintenance, public facility site improvements, event set-ups, and waste and traffic control. Winter duties include assisting with special maintenance and repair projects and snow and ice removal. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and a minimum of one year’s experience with a municipality or a commercial landscaping/construction company, with experience using hand and power tools. Position requires a valid Massachusetts driver’s license (CDL preferred). This is a 40 hr/wk Grade 3 position within the Chatham Municipal Employees Association. Weekend shifts and emergency snow and ice removal duties may be required. FY 2018 pay range is $21.15/hr - $25.77, plus insurance benefits and pension eligibility. Intermittent Building Supervisor, Chatham Community Center

Chatham seeks a qualified individual with customer service and supervisory experience to fill the position of Part-Time Intermittent Building Supervisor at the Community Center facility. This position, along with other full- and part-time Building Supervisors, provides oversight coverage and monitoring of activities and maintenance of the Chatham Community Center facility, which operates from 8am to 9pm, Monday through Friday, and varied hours on weekends, depending on the season and programing. This position is regularly responsible for weekend and evening shifts and may add other shifts and/or week-day work, when additional coverage is needed. Responsibilities of the position include supervising youth and adult activities at the community center, maintaining cleanliness and safety at the facility, and providing information to the public about the facility and public programs Minimum requirements are a high school diploma and five years’ experience supervising adults and school-age children in a similar building environment. Practical knowledge of building and recreational equipment maintenance is also required. Hours for this position vary, with a consistent average of 10 hrs/wk anticipated. This is a non-union position with starting pay rate of $18.54/hr.
